2004

  • A ‘Gig in the Pub’ was held, allowing young musicians and their bands an opportunity to play in a local venue. This was a great success, with the Derwent Hotel packed to the rafters.
  • October: Bamford Festival 2004, on the theme, ‘Bamford: Landscape and Environment’. A week of -
    • exhibitions and displays of creative work by local people, much of it produced over the last year as part of the Bamford Living Memory project
    • guided walks and workshops with artists and rangers, exploring aspects of the local landscape and environment - the result of collaboration between Bamford Community Arts and Crafts (BCAC), the National Trust, Peak District National Park, Severn Trent Water Ltd. and the Working Woodlands Trust
    • professional drama, storytelling, music...

  • Ongoing:Bamford Living Memory Project
    • a community project about life in Bamford in the past and present,
    • involving local people’s memories, creative writing, drawing and photography,
    • producing two books, a CD, exhibitions and performances.
  • February / March: Four workshops of music and storytelling for pre-school children were led by Fiona Paul of the Babbling Vagabonds. These were run in collaboration with the local parent and toddler group and the pre-school playgroup.
  • February: ‘Shadow of the Firebird’, by babbling vagabonds.

2003

  • November: African Drumming Workshop, by Steve Rivers.
  • October 2003 to December 2004: The ‘Bamford Living Memory Project’.
  • October: ‘Carnivalesque’ by The Carnival Band.
  • July: Concert for Bamford Carnival, by local young musicians.
  • May: ‘Spring’, a concert by local musicians.
  • March: ‘Beans!’ workshops and performance by Moby Duck.

2002

  • December: ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’, by New Perspectives Theatre Company.
  • October: Bamford Festival ’02. Nine days of workshops, exhibitions, performances and celebrations.
  • February: ‘Pinocchio’, babbling vagabonds.
